Trustees (Email)

The Board of Trustees shall have the supervision, oversight and care of all real property owned by the local church and shall review and provide for matters of insurance, receive and administer bequest, trusts and endowments, conduct accessibility audits of buildings, grounds and facilities. Making plans and determining priorities for the elimination of barriers that impede the full participation of the people.

Finance(Email)

The committee on finance shall compile annually a complete budget for the local church and submit it to the church for review and adoption. The committee is charged with responsibility to developing and implementing plans that will raise sufficient income to meet the budget adopted b the church council. The committee shall designate for the counting of the offering and provide the prompt deposit and record keeping of contributions and payments and make provision for an annual audit of the financial statements of the local church and all its organizations and accounts.

Staff/Pastor Parish Relations(Email)

This committee shall identify and clarify values for ministry, engaging in biblical and theological reflection on the mission of the church and the role and work of the pastor and staff as they carry out their leadership responsibilities. The committee shall assist the pastor and staff in assessing their gifts and setting priorities for leadership and service, developing and approving job descriptions, providing for continuing education and spiritual renewal, salary and benefits for pastor and staff. The S/PPRC interviews, evaluates, reviews and recommends annually to the charge conference lay persons for candidacy for ordained ministry

Nominations(Email)

The charge of this committee is to identify, develop, deploy, evaluate and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the local congregation. Serving throughout the year to guide the church council on matters regarding leadership of the congregation so as to focus on mission and ministry and assessing the changing leadership needs.

Administrative Council (Email)

The administrative council shall provide for planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness and resources in the local church. It shall also provide for the administration of its organization and temporal life. It shall envision, plan, implement and annually evaluate the mission and ministry of the church. Missions

  • Congregational Care and Nurture(Email)

    The nurturing ministries of the congregation shall give attention to but not limited to education, Christian formation, membership, care and small groups. Attention must be given to the needs of individuals and families of all ages.

     

  • Mission/Outreach(Email)

    The outreach ministries of the church shall give attention to the local and larger community ministries of compassion, justice and advocacy. These ministries include church and society, global ministries, higher education and campus ministry, Christian unity.


  • Evangelism and Witness(Email)
    The witness ministries of the church shall give attention to developing and strengthening evangelistic efforts of sharing of personal and congregational stories of Christian experience, faith and service, communications, Lay Speaking ministries and other means that give expressions of witness for Jesus Christ.

Worship(Email)

The primary task on this ministry area on worship is to work with the pastor and music leadership to ensure that congregation provides opportunities for worship that will help people develop and strengthen their relationship with God and will help them live more faithfully as Christian disciples, Cultivations the fullest possible meaning in the corporate worship celebrations on the church to the glory of God including liturgy, preaching, the sacraments, music, related arts and the observance of the liturgical seasons of the Christian year.

Building Committee(Email)

The building committee at HSUMC was elected at charge conference with a single purpose. It is charged with overseeing improvements and remodeling of our 100 year old sanctuary There are actually several steps the Building Committee will take to make sure that any changes to our church are done correctly.
